Initial Consultation

The first step is to set up a consultation. Consultations are a great opportunity for you to meet our dentist and get to know him better. Our dentist can talk to you about the different procedures that are offered and how you can benefit from them.

New Patient Paperwork and Documentation

If you are satisfied with our dentist after the first meeting, our team at My Dentist will assist you in setting up an appointment. Before the appointment, you will be required to fill out our new patient forms along with providing your dental history and records. It is suggested that you come in at least 20 minutes before your scheduled appointment to make sure that you have plenty of time to complete the required documents.

This paperwork covers two categories, both of which need to be completed in detail. The first one requires your personal details, such as your name, age, marital status, income range and home address. You will also be required to complete a medical history form. In this form, you will have to provide complete information regarding past medical treatments, dental problems and details about any dental insurance coverage, policy and provider. It is important for you to be precise and truthful in answering all the questions as any wrong answer could have an effect your future treatments.

Our office also provides you with the choice of filling out the forms before arriving for your appointment. This means that you can visit the website and fill out the enrollment forms online to save you time and ensure hassle-free appointment scheduling as well as an efficient and effective visit. Comprehensive Exam and Cleaning

After analyzing your dental health history, our dentist will most likely examine your gums, teeth and mouth. This procedure is known as a comprehensive exam and is performed to evaluate the state of your dental health and hygiene. An important part of the comprehensive exam is the cleaning in which the teeth and mouth are thoroughly cleaned before moving onto the x-rays so that there are no extra particles in your mouth at that time.

During the examination, our dentist will thoroughly look for any sensitivity, decay and redness around the gums and teeth. Even though he will have already studied your medical and dental history from the forms you completed, our dentist may still ask you questions about your teeth while examining them. This is a fairly common aspect of the exam, especially when new issues are located.

After completing the comprehensive exam, our dentist will take X-rays of your mouth to obtain a clear picture of the status of your teeth and jaw. These scans are taken to better analyze oral disruptions, diseases and cavities. The X-rays are suggested to be completed each time a patient comes into our office with either a severe problem or routinely after at least a year.

The panoramic radiographs are the most common types of dental X-rays as they provide our dentist a more detailed view of the teeth and jaw. From these images, our dentist is able to spot any impacted teeth or jaw fractures with ease.

Although believed to be a long process, X-rays usually don’t take more than a few minutes and are completely safe. Our dentist will guide you through the simple procedure by asking you to bite down on gauze while the rest of the body is protected with a device that will cover it. Only the mouth will be scanned by the machine.

Post-Examination Consultation

After the dental checkup, our dentist will discuss your results with you. He will guide you through any of the irregularities or decay that was found, and will suggest and explain to you the most appropriate and detailed treatment plan for your specific needs. In addition, you will receive the total cost of the particular procedure and can discuss a payment plan if needed.

Follow-Up Appointments

Once you have met with our dentist and discussed the variety of treatments that we offer, a follow-up session will be arranged for you according to your availability. These follow-up sessions will mostly be for cleaning and preparing your teeth for any upcoming procedures.

We highly recommended scheduling follow-up visits at least twice a year to monitor your oral health progress.  During these routine checkups, the teeth are cleaned and treated to make sure that they stay in excellent shape.
